CHELSEA MCDANIEL

Graphic Design Portfolio
An assortment of various graphic design projects I have been involved in or led.
Volusia County Public Library Card Design Contest
As the main creator on this project, I played a key role in the production of the following:
- Social Media Posts
- Flyers and posters
- Voting materials such as ballots

Volusia Reads Together 2021 - Present
Each year, the Volusia County Public Library system hosts a county-wide event called Volusia Reads Together during which patrons residing in the county read a selected book and can attend programs about the selected book. I have been a lead designer for 3 years now; Shoeless Joe in 2022, Project Hail Mary in 2023, and the upcoming VRT book in 2024.
Each year, I design all social media posts for the event, flyers, posters, and any other miscellaneous designs as required. In 2023 I designed the logo for the 2024 VRT program that will be featured on shirts throughout the county. To the right are a select few examples from that project.

Florida Humanities Anti-Racism Kits
In 2021, VCPL received a grant from Florida Humanities to create a series of Antiracist Kits; one for children, one for teens, and one for adults. For this project, I contributed the following
- All social media posts
- Flyers and posters
- Kit conversation activities
- Kit welcome letters
- Kit discussion activities
- Bookmarks
- Reader's advisory posters

Summer Reading Challenge
VCPL participates in the Collaborative Summer Reading Program every year during the summer. Since 2021 I have been participating in the design and implementation of multiple materials during the summer each year, including but not limited to:
- Children's Summer Activity Booklet (2022, 2023)
- Teen Summer Activity Booklet (2023)
- Program Brochures
- Event flyers
- Event photos
- Social media posts (Facebook and Instagram)
- Escape Challenges

Sheriff's Foundation Bike Raffle
In early 2023, the Northeast region of VCPL received donated bikes from the Volusia County Sheriff's Youth Foundation that were raffled off to teenagers who participated in library programs.
I designed the social media for this project, as well as various tags and posters displayed with the bikes.

Green Screen Photo Events
Throughout the year, the library system offers free green screen photos for different occasions; graduation, holidays, seasons, etc. For these events I have created marketing materials including promotional flyers/posters and social media.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
When a child reaches milestones in the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge, I am tasked with taking their photo, editing it, and uploading it to Facebook. These are some of the most popular posts that have been posted on the library Facebook page. Cumulatively, these posts have garnered thousands of likes and are by far some of the post popular posts that end up on VCPL's Facebook. I take the photos, edit them with graphics to make them more childlike and appealing, and send them in to be posted. The most successful posts on VCPL's Facebook are these types of posts.

Teentober
Teentober is a nationwide celebration of teens in the library during the month of October. I created social media posts and posters for this celebration.

YouTube Videos
Throughout my library career I have made several videos for the Volusia County Public Library system. I have made informational and just for fun videos for all audiences. You can see some of my work to the right.
For each of these videos, I designed corresponding social media posts that link back to the videos in order to reach a larger audience.
